Erin

Hi! I’m Erin, I am originally from Massachusetts but moved to Virginia after graduating with my Bachelor’s in Nursing in 2009.

I never intended to stay long term but what can you say, I had a great job, found my husband, had some babies and here I am 14 years later! I have worked as a Registered Nurse in the DMV ever since with a specialty in Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care.

I have worked with hundreds of new and experienced parents over the years and developed a passion for teaching them how to care for their children. After I had my first baby in 2018 I quickly realized how little reliable support and education was available for new moms and when I had my second baby in the midst of the 2020 Covid pandemic the small community of support I found previously was gone.

I have also personally experienced a variety of feeding and sleep challenges with my own children, just going to show you how different each pregnancy and baby can be. In fact, my third baby has been my most challenging!

In today’s culture of relying on Social Media for education, parents are thrown into a world of too much information and it can be hard to sort out what is evidence based and best practice verses what may be someone’s opinion, especially when you are sleep deprived! While pregnant there is so much focus on how, where and with whom you are going to birth your baby but there is a serious lack of education on how you are going to take care of not only your baby but yourself once you are home.

As a Mama Coach I want to help bridge the gap in care that exists in the fourth trimester, where pediatricians are often busy and rushed and most women don’t see their prenatal care provider for many weeks after birth. Families need better support after birth and I am excited to help you in whatever way I can!

Frequently Asked Questions

Good question!  We are called The Mama Coach because years ago, when Carrie’s first boy was very small, she often wondered out loud to herself, “Where is my Mama Coach?” and “I need a Mama Coach!”.  Carrie searched and searched for qualified support and realized there was a need for qualified support for new families. We recognize that our name can give the impression that we only serve moms, but we will continue to work and learn to ensure our messaging is clear that all people are welcome here. Parents carry a heavy load, and do it with grace.  All parents deserve support, and The Mama Coach is the answer you’ve been searching for.

We do not just support moms — we help ALL people.  All are welcome here, and we are committed to providing you with quality support, no matter your gender or family dynamic.  As we learned in nursing school, your family is who YOU say they are.

We get asked this one all the time.  As Registered Nurses, having merely one method does not align with how we were trained in School to utilize the nursing process.

The Nursing Process is defined as, a “systematic approach to care using the fundamental principles of critical thinking, client-centered approaches to treatment, goal-oriented tasks, evidence-based practice (EDP) recommendations, and nursing intuition.  Holistic and scientific postulates are integrated to provide the basis for compassionate, quality-based care” (*1).

Simply put, we will assess your child using our nursing training to determine the best way to help your family reach their goals, walking beside you all the way.  You can choose us with confidence, knowing you have picked the most qualified resource to support your family’s journey.

Yes.  As Registered Nurses, we have years of training on where to access credible guidelines and information. All of our programming is based on extensive research from credible sources.

As such, we each have our own EMR that is private and secure. We do not share EMR or client information between one another without consent.
